Generation Gap
When you go shopping with your mother, you may find a dress really gorgeous while your mother thinks that's the ugliest dress she has ever seen; when a rock band is about to come, you may become quite excited and eager to go to the concert while your father regards it as a waste of time and money. These are what we called GENERATION GAP. The conception was first promoted by American humanist Margaret Mead in the late 60s, which was defined as the differences in thought and behaviour caused by both body and environment factors between generations. The phenomena are quite common all around the world, and I'd like to pick up some typical types to illustrate.
Most of the contradictions are caused by different environments they grow up in, and the obvious reflection of this is that the senior generation are always more conservative. For instance, they may find a lady dressed in a sexy tight black bare-back dress too open to accept, while the junior generation regard her as modern beauty and give her sincere appreciation. The reason why they have opposite thoughts is that international communication is becoming more and more frequent in recent years, therefore, the young are easier to accept the new things. On the contrary, the old have totally different standard of beauty, which has already built firmly inside their hearts according to their education decades ago.
