——OnOne Thousand and One Nights
Word came that between ancient Chian ang India, located a country called Shaman, the king killed his queen because of her infidelity, since then on, the king marry a girl everyday and kill them the next day’s morning. The prime minister’ daughter, in order to save these girls, got married with the king and attracted the king’s attention by telling stories. The stories lasted 1001 and the king was greatly moved. They lived together from then on.
In fact ,theOne Thousand and One Nightsis collected,collated and added by countless writers and actors through hundreds of years. All together, there are 264 stories, including 134 big stories, in this book. The main idea the book tells us is that: Verily words and works of those gove before us have become instance and examples to men of our modern days that folk folk may view what admonishing chances befell other folk and may there take warmming.
TheOne Thousand and One Nightswidely reflects the ancient Arab and surrounding areas of national social reality and is called “A clean mirror”:
Firstly, it profoundly reflects the sharp social class antagonisms and reveals the brutal ruler and evil,The Story of a Fishermanas an example.
Secondly, the book depicts the life of the laboring people and praised them of their excellent characteristics, ingenuity and struggle spirit. In many stories, fishermen, nomads, haircut, the cobbler, maid, woodman and farmers, handicraft workers, the porter in succession, became the stage of positive character tales, such asBaghdad ThievesandAli Baba and the Forty Thieves.
Thirdly, the book describes the working people's strong desire for a better life, especially for the love of constancy:The Ebony Horse Storyas an example.
Fourthly, the businessman’s lives and the thoughts and feelings of adventure stories in the book, occupies an important position, andthe XinBoDa Sailing Tripis the most famous among them.
The book contains variety of valuable ideas from which we can learn from.
